Most animals don’t recognize their own reflections in the mirror, and reactions tend to range from fearful to aggressive to dismissive. I just had to try it with my tortoise. The result is best described as “self image issues”.
Groggy little beast was subjected to me singing “My Funny Valentine” with garbled lyrics this morning. He perked up and stretched his neck out for the ascending bits, so I think my critic approved. Two claws up.
